MY FAVORITE THING TO DO: lean into God's presence and hear His voice.
MY SECOND FAVORITE: watch Him bring heaven to earth—around us, in us, and through us.
I believe every moment, every circumstance, is a platform to know God more intimately. No detail is too small. No tragedy too big. He is present—with love, wisdom, and power—in each one, and we can learn to recognize and embrace Him right there in the precious, messy middle.
I love finding beauty in overlooked, ordinary, and unexpected places. Tiny treasures are the best kind and frequently find their way home with me.
I value kindness, courage, details, and creativity. I expect to see seeds of hope even in death. I’ve learned God’s wisdom is more often found in a whisper than a shout. And He’s worth every bit of effort He challenges me to give.
I’m an introvert, so I treasure time alone. But when our home is filled with good food and laughter; when I’m surrounded by seekers or encouraging those in tight places; when I get to lead others to the smile of Jesus… I’m so thankful He has gently, tenaciously transformed me into someone I didn’t know I could be.
Ministry
I’m grateful to have traveled to teach and lead worship in churches, conference centers, recovery ranches, prison gymnasiums, campgrounds, restaurants, homes, school yards, theaters, tents, and barns across the western United States and in the Philippines and China. (See gallery.)
I’ve written many songs and books along the way.
Community
The title of Mentor is one of the greatest gifts others have given me—welcoming me into their inner life to listen, encourage, challenge, and pass on truth I’ve experienced along the way.
Whether in small groups or one-on-one, nothing can replace the value of living life together
